Praxair supplies oxy-fuel for glass box maker

Danbury industrial gas supplier Praxair announced Tuesday it had started up an oxy-fuel plant for the Oklahoma location of the world’s largest glass container manufacturer.

Owens-Illinois of Muskogee, Okla. will use oxy-fuel combustion technology to energy efficiency in the glass melting process and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The technology replaces a conventional air-fuel glass furnace.

Financial details on Praxair’s long-term contract to supply oxygen to the facility were not disclosed.

Praxair had 2014 sales of $12.3 billion, making it the largest industrial gases company in North and South America.
