Danbury industrial gas supplier Praxair, Inc. has extended its 15-year relationship with an Indian steel manufacturer, building a new air separation plant and delivering more industrial gases in the southern region of the country.
Praxair will expand the supplier of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to India-based JSW Steel Ltd. to help the metal manufacturer increase its production from 10 to 12 million tons per year.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Praxair’s new air separation plant will deliver 1,800 tons per day of oxygen, in addition to the 6,800 tons per day produced onsite at JSW’s Bellary facility. The new plant also will provide 1,600 tons per day of nitrogen and add merchant liquid capacity to support growing demand of Southern India steel, cement, chemical, textile, pharmaceutical, and automotive production.
