Danbury industrial gas supplier Praxair has doubled its oxygen production capacity for Chinese copper smelting venture Jinlong Copper Co. Ltd.
Praxair China announced Wednesday is signed a new contract with Jinlong to double the oxygen production capacity of its air separation unit to 700 tons per day. Praxair also will acquire Jinlong’s existing, captive plants and integrate them to supply industrial gas for Jinlong’s smelting process.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The two sides have worked together since 2006.
Jinlong already uses Praxair’s oxy-fuel burner technology, which produces bigger and brighter flames to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions in furnaces.
