Pratt’s IAE partners renew their vows

A consortium of U.S., European and Asian jet-engine builders, including Pratt & Whitney Co. in East Hartford and Britain’s Rolls-Royce, has renewed its collaboration pact through 2045.

International Aero Engines AG (IAE) said its board of directors agreed to the extension with Pratt, Rolls, Japanese Aero Engines Corp. and Germany’s MTU Aero Engines.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old consortium builds variations of its V2500 engine for the Airbus A320 jetliner. Nearly 6,500 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order with the worldwide fleet accumulating more than 85 million flying hours.

It has more than 190 customers in over 70 countries worldwide, the IAE V2500 continues to attract customers as today’s most cost-effective engine on the A320 family.
