Pratt wins $1.72B Air Force contract

Pratt & Whitney Co. has received a $1.72 billion U.S. Air Force contract to install jet engines for the C-17 transport plane, the Defense Department said.

The East Hartford jet engine maker will install F117-PW-100 engines and provide spare engines and other equipment for the C-17.

Up to 208 engines may be acquired under the contract, the Defense Department said.
