Pratt & Whitney wins $888M contract for CT-made engines

East Hartford-based Pratt & Whitney had an existing contract increased by almost $888 million this week for jet engine equipment and support, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Pratt & Whitney, a division of aerospace and defense giant Raytheon Technologies Corp., will take the lead on the contract, with 82% of work being done at the company’s East Hartford facility and another 9% in South Windsor.

According to information from the U.S. Department of Defense, the $888 million fixed-price modification deal adds on to a previously awarded indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract that is expected to be completed in 2026.

The new modification increases the contract ceiling for F-135 propulsion system spare parts, modules, support equipment, packaging, handling, shipping and transportation material, and depot lay-in material in support of the F-135 propulsion system requirements for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, Foreign Military Sales customers and non-Department of Defense participants, the government said.
