Pratt & Whitney’s latest F-35 contract sends more defense manufacturing work to Connecticut facilities.
RTX Corp.’s Pratt & Whitney military engines division has received a $30.8 million contract modification to support production of spare F135 engines and modules for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.
The work will support Lot 18 and 19 aircraft production for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, international program partners and foreign military sales customers, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Work will be performed at multiple locations through May 2031, including Cromwell, which will handle about 18.8% of the work, and East Hartford, which will account for about 8.5%.
Connecticut’s congressional delegation said the award supports the state’s defense manufacturing sector. Pratt & Whitney is the sole engine supplier for the F-35 program.
