Georgia officials say East Hartford aerospace firm Pratt & Whitney Co. will create about 180 new jobs in the Columbus area, The Associated Press reports.
Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday Pratt will expand its Columbus, Ga., manufacturing facility to create the new jobs. He said the extra workers will be involved in overhauling military aircraft engines.
The governor says that Pratt will expand its existing Columbus Engine Center with a building upgrade and new equipment. Deal says the 215,000-square-foot facility east of Columbus already employs more than 300 people.
Pratt now has 36,000 employee worldwide, according to its website.
