Pratt soaring on more air-show deals

East Hartford jet-engine maker Pratt & Whitney Co. says it got a firm order for 60 and options for as many as 46 more of its geared turbofan engines to power passenger airliners.

Pratt did not reveal Tuesday from the Paris Air Show the potential dollar value of the order, which also includes a maintenance service agreement.

In the first engine deal, aerospace-equipment lease unit of CIT Group Inc. put in a firm order 60 PW1100G engines to power its ordered fleet of Airbus A320neo aircraft, and claimed options for up to 40 more.

CIT Aerospace’s engine deliveries begin in 2016. It owns or finances approximately 300 commercial planes serving some 115 customers in 55 countries.

In the other order, Pratt will supply 10 of its PW1500G engines are for Bombardier’s CSeries twin-engine regional passenger jet. The airline has options for six more.

Separately, Pratt also announced signings of a pair of engine-washing service pacts with Ohio cargo airline ABX Air Inc. and with British carrier Monarch Airlines.

Also, Pratt’s sister division, Stratford’s Sikorsky Aircraft, signed a deal with thee Swedish defense and security company Saab to support the fleet of 15 UH-60M helicopters recently purchased by the Swedish military.

Both Pratt and Sikorsky Aircraft are units of United Technologies Corp. in Hartford.
