East Hartford jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney has secured a $6.7 billion contract to maintain F119 aircraft engines for U.S. Air Force fighter jets, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) said.
F119 turbofan engines power the service branch’s fleet of F-22 Raptor fighter jets. The contract to “sustain” and prolong the operations of the jet engines lasts for up to eight years and covers an unspecified number of engines, DOD said.
The work will be performed at Pratt in East Hartford as well as at Air Force bases in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Virginia, Texas and Florida through December 2025.
Pratt is a division of Farmington-based United Technologies Corp.
