East Hartford jet-engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney Co. on Monday returned one of its executives as president of International Aero Engines, reflecting Pratt’s new controlling interest in the Glastonbury jet-engine consortium.
Jon Beatty returns to IAE as president, a post he held for two years until 2009, succeeding Ian Aitken, who held the position since 2010 and will return as an executive to Rolls-Royce.
Beatty was IAE president from 2007 to 2009 and most recently served as Pratt vice president for airline customers. He has served as an associate member of the IAE executive board.
Pratt one week ago closed its $1.5 billion buyout of British Rolls-Royce’s share in IAE, giving Pratt 61 percent of the consortium.
The remaining IAE partners are Japanese Aero Engines with a 23 percent share and MTU Aero Engines with a 16 percent share. The collaboration will run until at least 2045, focusing on producing V2500 engines for customers such as France airplane manufacturer Airbus.
Pratt President David Hess will take over as chairman of the IAE board of directors, replacing Jim Guyette of Rolls-Royce.
