The Canadian division of East Hartford aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney announced Tuesday its PurePower engines launched Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.’s latest business jets.
The Georgia-based jet manufacturer launched its Gulfstream G500 and G600 on Tuesday with the PurePower PW800 powering the vehicle. Those engines are from Pratt’s geared turbofan family, designed to increase fuel efficiency and decrease noise.
Certification for those engines in the Gulfstreams are expected before the end of 2014.
The engines will be built at Pratt Canada’s Mirabel Aerospace Centre in Quebec.
