JetBlue Airways formalized its order from East Hartford’s Pratt & Whitney Co. for 86 engines to power 40 commercial jets JetBlue is buying from Airbus, among a series of engine-orders Pratt announced Wednesday.
JetBlue and Pratt signed their definitive agreement for PurePower PW1100G-JM engines at Britain’s Farnborough Air Show Wednesday. The airline also is buying Pratt’s engine-washing service.
Price wasn’t disclosed.
Both announced their order intent late last year.
JetBlue is buying 40 firm A320neo aircraft from Airbus.
Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2018. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp.
Also announced at the air show was that Kazakhstan flag carrier Air Astana chose Pratt PW4000-94 engine for its order of three firm and one option Boeing 767-300 airliners. The Pratt order is worth about $90 million.
Finally, Pratt agreed to sell 200 PurePower PW1200G engines to propel 100 Mitsubishi regional jets on order for SkyWest Inc. Price wasn’t disclosed.
Deliveries begin in 2017.
