Pratt inks $1.22B in deals with Greater Hartford firms

Aerospace engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney said it has signed agreements with companies in Cheshire and Manchester that are a part of its goal to more than double production of PurePower engines by 2020.

The larger of the deals, worth approximately $1 billion, is a manufacturing agreement with Cheshire’s EDAC Technologies, which will provide precision-machined components to Pratt for its PurePower engines and other platforms.

EDAC, which has been a Pratt supplier for decades, said it is expanding one of its composites facilities in Mexico and purchasing more than 30 new machine tools and process capabilities for its Connecticut plants.

Pratt also signed an agreement worth as much as $220 million with Manchester’s Paradigm Precision to supply fabricated assemblies for PurePower engines and legacy programs.

Like EDAC, Paradigm is a longtime Pratt supplier.
