Power customers warned against unsolicited calls

Business and residential customers should be wary of any unexpected solicitations from anyone claiming to represent Connecticut Light & Power, offering lower electric rates.

The Connecticut Attorney General’s Office has received complaints of calls from a New Jersey number asking for CL&P account numbers, promising electric bill reductions.

CL&P doesn’t make any such unsolicited calls. Power suppliers and aggregators that can switch consumers to a lower rate must properly identify the company they represent.

The Attorney General’s Office reminds consumers to never give out personal information over the phone and to contact local police when receiving such unsolicited calls.
