Post Road parcel sold in West Haven

A parcel of land along a busy commercial stretch in West Haven, ideal for development, has been sold for $1.4 million.

A 56,300-square-foot industrial building sits on the roughly 2-acre property at 958-978 Orange Ave., also known as Route 1, the Boston Post Road.

The property was listed as prime redevelopment land, and sits near several other commercial businesses, including auto parts and repair stores, a car wash and chain coffee shop.

The buyers, Stamford-based Five Stars Brothers LLC, are assessing the property and have not yet determined a redevelopment plan, according to Fred Messore, senior vice president of Orange-based Colonial Properties, who was the sole broker on the deal that closed in early December.

The seller is DP64 LLC, an affiliate of Diamond Properties, based out of Mt. Kisco, N.Y.

The industrial building on the site, built in 1946, had been the Gold Medal Bakery, previously Eggo Company and before that Kraft foods, according to city property records.

The property has a total appraised value of $1.17 million.

Plans for a Cumberland Farms gas station and convenience store were drafted in 2020 but not approved.
