Poll: Dodd’s approval rating drops again

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that Sen. Christopher Dodd’s approval rating has declined again, and four Republican candidates are keeping pace with him head-to-head.

The poll released today says 54 percent of registered voters disapprove of the job Dodd is doing, up from 49 percent in September. His ratings previously dropped as he faced controversy over mortgages he received from Countrywide Financial Corp.

In head-to-head matchups, the poll shows former GOP Congressman Rob Simmons leading Dodd 49 to 38 percent, and former ambassador Tom Foley slightly ahead, 47 to 42 percent. Two other Republicans, Linda McMahon and Sam Caligiuri, are about even with the senator.

The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 2.8 percentage points. (AP)
