Only 19 percent of Connecticut voters feel the state’s economy is “good” or “excellent,” while the largest segment anticipates the economy staying the same over the next two years, according to a new poll.
Of 625 voters interviewed by telephone by Florida-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, 41 percent rated the state’s economy as fair, while 39 percent said it was poor.
Over the next two years, one-third felt the economy would get worse, while 27 percent felt it would improve.
The responses were divided along political lines. A majority of Republicans rated the state’s economy as poor, while only 8 percent said it was good. Meanwhile, 25 percent of of Democrats said the economy was poor, while 28 percent said it was good.
Only 6 percent of Republicans felt the economy will improve, compared to 41 percent of Democrats.
The poll had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.
