Poland eyes nuclear, gas deals with South Korea

The Polish and South Korean presidents say their countries are considering cooperating on the construction of nuclear power plants and a liquefied natural gas terminal in Poland.

The remarks came during a visit today by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak to the Polish capital.

Poland plans to build two nuclear power reactors in coming years as part of a wider strategy to gain energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

President Lech Kaczynski said South Korea has presented an offer to help build the nuclear power plants.
