POET Technologies, which is based at UConn’s campus in Storrs and in Toronto, Canada, said one of its recent board members has died.
Adam Chowaniec, 64, a Canadian semiconductor and technology executive, was on POET’s board until Feb. 10, when he resigned for health reasons.
The Ottawa Citizen reported this week that he had been suffering from cancer. He died late last week.
“Adam had a monumental career in the semiconductor industry, and he was extremely generous with his time and sage advice during the transformation of the company and the development of the POET technology,” Peter Copetti, POET’s co-chairman and interim CEO, said in a statement.
