A local electrician has won approval to build a multi-tenant industrial contractor facility in Suffield.
Kevin Deming, owner of Deming Electric, will build a one-story, 12-bay storage facility on the 2.3-acre property he owns at 1300 East St., South.
Each unit will have a 120-square-foot office, 25-square-foot restroom and 30-foot by 60-foot storage space with a garage door. Deming plans to rent out the spaces to trades workers such as plumbers, electricians, roofers and other small construction-related business owners seeking storage space.
Revised plans following a public hearing bring the total number of parking spaces up to 60, and make room for truck turnaround and loading space.
Industry experts said there is a shortage of small industrial space like that which Deming is planning.
Previously, this site served as a mulch yard, with truck traffic throughout the day, according to the application.
