Permits for a 521,886-square-foot warehouse in Bloomfield proposed by a Missouri-based company were approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission last week, despite residents’ concerns.
On Thursday, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-1 to approve the project, which is  planned on a 55-acre parcel at 60-116 West Dudley Town Road. The land is currently vacant.
The developer, NorthPoint Development LLC, plans to build a warehouse with 118 loading docks, 206 trailer parking spaces and 361 car parking spaces.
During a public hearing, neighbors raised concerns about tractor-trailer traffic. Most of the traffic would access West Dudley Town Road from Interstate 91, and NorthPoint said it would support a ban on trucks using Filley Street, which is residential.
A traffic study conducted by F. A. Hesketh & Associates showed that the existing roadway could accommodate traffic to and from the proposed warehouse.
NorthPoint Development, a privately held real estate development firm specializing in industrial and multifamily development, is also moving forward with a nearly 750,000-square-foot distribution center inside Windsor’s Great Pond Village mixed-use development.
