A proposal to convert two three-story New Canaan office buildings into a mixed-use hotel-retail development has received the green light from the town’s zoning officials.
New Canaan developer Elliot Siderides, doing business as Two Corners LLC, plans to convert one building, at 39 Locust Ave., into a mixed-use building with ground-floor office or retail space and eight hotel rooms on the second and third floors.
Developers plan to convert the other building into a 40-room hotel with an outdoor patio, adding a partial fourth story.
Both buildings would still have the existing above- and below-grade parking.
Siderides, the founder and president of New Canaan-based Windward Development Inc., bought the buildings for $8.7 million from F. Jack Liebau, of New Canaan.
Both properties have a total appraised value of $10.2 million and an assessed value of $6.16 million.
The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the plan on Monday.
