Pita honored with Catalyst Award

Paul Pita, managing partner and executive creative director at the Pita Group, was recognized with a Catalyst Award at the Conference of Churches’ annual From Water to Wine Gala.

These awards were created to acknowledge the efforts of transformational leaders in the community who use their skills and knowledge to give back to the surrounding area. The Pita Group was highly involved in branding and promoting The Conference of Churches’ latest endeavor, The 224 — a 30,000-square-foot building that will serve as the new headquarters of the nonprofit organization.

Jacobs honored by Hartford County Medical Association

The Hartford County Medical Association recently awarded obstetrician and gynecologist Henry E. Jacobs with the HCMA Distinguished Award at its annual meeting. Jacobs specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

He served as the 2012-2013 vice president of the Connecticut State Medical Society, and is also a litigation-experienced attorney. Jacobs currently serves on the Connecticut Medical Examining Board and practices at the OB/GYN Associations of West Hartford.

Gaidos named to Hartford Symphony board

Rosemary Gaidos, executive vice president of consumer deposits at Webster Bank has been elected to the board of The Hartford Symphony Orchestra for a three-year term running through 2016.

In 2012, Gaidos received a Women in Business Award from the Hartford Business Journal. She currently serves on the executive leadership team of the Greater Hartford American Heart Association Go Red for Women campaign.

Hoffmann Architects receives U.S. patent

Hamden architecture and engineering firm Hoffmann Architects recently received a U.S. patent for a new technique to prevent and remediate structural failure at precast parking garage decks.

The patented seismic connection improves structural integrity and reduces the incidence of stress and fatigue fracture in garage decks. Lawrence E. Keenan, director of engineering with Hoffmann Architects, developed the design after observing structural failure of welded deck connections at different precast parking garages.

ON20 awarded Four Diamond rating

ON20 has been presented with the Hartford’s first Four Diamond restaurant rating from AAA. From over 29,000 restaurants approved by AAA throughout North America, fewer than 3 percent receive this grade.

In addition to the Four Diamond rating, ON20 has been recognized as one the top 10 restaurants in the country by OpenTable diners and also one of the top 100 scenic dining views in the country.
