Farmington is proposing to build four pickleball courts at the town-owned Westwoods Golf Course.
The project also includes constructing a splash pad and a building with restrooms, along with parking lot improvements.
The new recreation area would be built on a vacant field east of the existing golf course parking lot.
The proposal includes potential expansion, with space for four additional pickleball courts that could be built in the future.
Also, electrical conduit will be installed in case funding for lighting becomes available in the future.

The project is funded 45% by grants and 55% by the town.
The pickleball courts will operate year-round, weather permitting, from 7 a.m. to sunset. The splash pad would be available annually from June 1 to Labor Day.
The applicant, Town Engineer Russell Arnold, received approval from the Inland Wetlands Commission on April 3.
Arnold is now seeking a special permit and site plan approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission. A public hearing is scheduled for 7 tonight.
The meeting will be held online and in Town Hall Council Chambers.
