Petco, which has 29 locations in Connecticut, has launched a same-day delivery service from its nearly 1,300 stores nationwide.
The pet retailer has hired Alabama-based online delivery platform Shipt, which is owned by retail giant Target Corp., to deliver its food, grooming and health products. The service launched Thursday, the companies said.
In Greater Hartford, Petco has locations in Newington, Southington, Farmington, Glastonbury, Manchester, Middletown and Windsor.
Almost 70 million households are able to access the same-day delivery service as Petco has stores positioned in more than 200 markets across the country. Deliveries will arrive to homes as soon as an hour, Shipt said.
Customers must sign up with Shipt for an annual membership of $99 to receive the delivery service.
Founded in 2014, Shipt was acquired by Target in Dec. 2017 for $550 million.
Target then rolled out its same-day delivery service through Shipt in Aug. 2018.
