PerkinElmer U.S. LLC plans to permanently close its Shelton manufacturing facility next year, eliminating 68 jobs, according to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor.
The company said in a letter dated Sept. 23 that the plant, at 710 Bridgeport Ave., will shut down in phases, with the first group of affected employees scheduled to lose their jobs Nov. 24. The full closure is expected by April 1, 2026.

None of the workers are represented by a union and no transfer, reassignment or bumping rights are available, the company said.
PerkinElmer notified the city of Shelton and the state under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which requires large employers to provide at least 60 days’ notice of mass layoffs or closures.
The company said the decision was not made lightly and pledged to support employees during the transition, but it didn't specify what's driving the closure. Affected positions include technicians, engineers, material handlers, managers and other manufacturing and logistics roles.
PerkinElmer has had a footprint in Connecticut for decades, with facilities in Fairfield and New Haven counties serving as hubs for engineering, research and production. The Shelton site, which opened in the early 2000s, has been one of the company’s larger manufacturing centers in the state.
PerkinElmer develops diagnostic tools, scientific instruments and life sciences technologies used by laboratories, researchers and healthcare providers worldwide.
