PeoplesBank Arena’s new ‘bunker suites’ sell out

Hartford’s PeoplesBank Arena has opened five new ultra-premium “bunker suites” beneath the main seating bowl, each featuring a private lounge with a dedicated mixologist and first-row seats — and they are sold out for the next seven years.

The suites are the centerpiece of the arena’s $145 million renovation, completed in October. Each includes an upholstered lounge and seats just steps away in the lower bowl.

“The bunker suites redefine what it means to experience an event at PeoplesBank Arena,” said Ben Weiss, general manager for operator Oak View Group. “They offer a unique balance of privacy and energy — the feeling of a secret room combined with front-row access to world-class entertainment.”

The suites cost about $400,000 annually and include 15 to 18 first-row seats each.

The arena also added 51 loge boxes seating four to six people with in-seat dining service, priced around $75,000 per year for five-year commitments.

Home to the Hartford Wolf Pack and UConn basketball, the arena reopened Oct. 17 after closing in May for renovations, which included new lower-bowl seating, modernized concourses, updated locker rooms and expanded backstage areas.

OVG, which took over arena management under a 20-year deal, expects at least 15 concerts this fiscal year — nearly double the historical average of six to eight shows.

Massachusetts-based PeoplesBank purchased the arena’s naming rights in June for about $2 million annually over 10 years and has reserved one bunker suite and two loge boxes.
