Bridgeport regional lender People’s United Bank hired former Sovereign Bank officer John P. Costa to expand its lending on metro New York commercial real estate, authorities say.
Costa, who will be executive vice president, spent 11 years with Sovereign Bank/Banco Santander in New York City, officials said. Banco Santander is based in Spain.
Most recently, the 30-year banking veteran headed Santander Real Estate Capital, where he led both new loan origination and the management of a $21 billion loan portfolio of mostly multi-family properties.
