Izabela Blackwood recently joined Pearce Real Estate as a residential sales associate, based out of its New Haven office.
Nanette Pastore, company president, said Blackwood has 28 years of experience in the real estate industry.
“Izabela is also fluent in Polish, Russian, German and some Ukrainian,” Pastore said.
Blackwood currently lives in North Branford, though she has also lived in New Haven.
“I am fascinated by the individual histories of the houses we inhabit, and by the potential of adapting them to the needs of our modern lives,” Blackwood said.

Monroe-based brokerage adds to leadership team
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gaetano Marra Homes, a Monroe-based real estate brokerage serving the Greater New Haven market, has added Bryan Atherton as its strategic growth partner.
Gaetano Marra, brokerage owner, said Atherton will help with the company’s planned expansion.
“Bryan and I have followed each other’s careers from afar for quite some time,” Marra said. “When we met in person this fall, we instantly realized the tremendous opportunities our partnership would create.”
Atherton will join Marra to expand the firm’s presence in the state. Atherton also will lead the growth of its recently-opened Newtown office and help strengthen the firm’s new commercial division.
Atherton started his career in residential real estate before moving into the commercial sector.

Marcum names new partner
Financial services provider Marcum recently named a new assurance partner, Jeff Rossi, who serves as the firm’s New England Consumer & Industrial Products leader.
Rossi has nearly 30 years of experience providing audit and assurance services to tier one aerospace/defense, automotive, food manufacturing, sanitation/recycling, construction and logistics companies.
During his career, Rossi has worked with several clients as lead advisor on mergers and acquisitions as well as divestitures. He also has extensive experience in forensic accounting, internal controls and fraud prevention.
Rossi is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner. He is based in the firm’s Hartford office.
