Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has named Natasha Pierre to a four-year term as the state’s Victim Advocate.
Pierre is the policy and legislative director for the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women. She replaces Garvin Ambrose, who resigned over the summer to take a chief of staff position with the Illinois State’s Attorney.
Pierre previously worked as an attorney for Connecticut Legal Services and Western Massachusetts Legal Services.
The Victim Advocate acts as an ombudsman within the criminal justice system for victims of crime and evaluates state services received by victims.
