Patching potholed paving Pedro’s priority

Hartford’s mayor vows that with spring flowers set to blossom, city road crews will be out in force for some potting of their own — filling potholed streets.

“While city crews have already repaired 2,552 pot holes, there is more work to be done,” Pedro Segarra said Monday in a statement.

Segarra said he has ordered city public works to continue temporary pothole patching until the asphalt plants open in April.

That’s when the city will begin milling and repaving about 45 city roads and intersections at a cost of some $3.5 million.

He says residents and businesses can help identify immediate troublespots by notifying the city’s 311 Call Center (www.hartford.gov/311)

The goal is to pinpoint and prioritize potholes “and get them filled within 100 hours,” the mayor said.

In addition, neighborhood curbside Christmas-tree removal, stymied by heavy snowfall, will resume Thursday.
