Pasta sauce line expands to CT, New England grocers

The pasta sauce made famous by New York City-based restaurant Carbone is now available in grocery stores in New England.

Since launching Carbone Fine Food products in 2021, Carbone Restaurant founders Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick wanted to expand their line of pasta sauces to reach consumers across New England.

The sauces debuted last year on a limited number of store shelves, but this fall, the products are more widely available in grocery stores in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

In Connecticut, Carbone sauces can be found at Stop & Shop, Shoprite, Big Y, the Fresh Market, Acme, Balducci’s and King’s. The jarred sauces are also available online at Amazon and at www.carbonefinefood.com.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the Carbone Fine Food brand throughout New England,” said Mario Carbone, in an announcement. “New England is the market for red sauce in the nation, and we are proud to deliver a product that would not only cut down cooking time for the home cook but also truly deliver on the promise of unequaled flavor.”

Carbone sauces are made in small batches, using Italian tomatoes picked at peak ripeness. It is served at Carbone Restaurants in New York, Dallas, Miami, Las Vegas and Hong Kong. The sauces contain no added sugar and are non-GMO and come in six varieties: Marinara, Marinara Delicato, Arrabbiata, Tomato Basil, Roasted Garlic and Mushroom.

“The sauce category is a crowded one, but what has been lacking is a premium product that can stand up to what’s served in restaurants,” Carbone Fine Food CEO Eric Skae said.

Carbone sauces also have a celebrity following, with fans like Lebron James, Gwyneth Paltrow and Barack Obama.
