Paris yogurt giant Danone on Friday acquired Naugatuck-based YoCrunch, which specializes in making yogurt with crunchy toppings such as Oreos, Reese’s Pieces, and M&Ms.
YoCrunch had annual sales of $110 million and sustained double-digit growth in the past several years, making it a market leader in the toppers segment, according to Danone’s announcement of the purchase.
The sale’s price was not disclosed. Danone said it wanted the Connecticut yogurt maker to expand its foothold in America and use YoCrunch’s expertise in compartmentalized packaging.
Danone had $27 billion in sales last year. The company has 190 production plants with 102,000 employees on five continents.
