Panera Bread approved for Hamden Marketplace

A new Panera Bread restaurant is coming soon to Hamden at the site of a former Pier 1 Imports home store along Dixwell Avenue.

The town land use boards recently approved an application from property owner, California-based Northington Hamden Investors LLC, for a new 3,950-square-foot Panera Bread at 2335 Dixwell Ave., with a dining area, outdoor seating, and a drive-thru window.

The location is in a busy commercial area at the corner of Skiff Street, known as Hamden Marketplace. Other businesses nearby include Stop & Shop, Old Navy clothing store, Petco, Pep Boys auto parts and Aspen Dental.

The long-vacant Pier 1 store will be demolished. New Haven and North Haven also have Panera Bread locations.
