Oxford’s RBC Bearings Inc. is shutting later this month its Houston production plant and shifting large-bearings production to its South Carolina plant, among others.
RBC said the shutdown will boost efficiency and gross margins over coming months. It did not specify the number of workers affected.
The consolidation will cost RBC some $5.5 million in after-tax hit to its fiscal fourth quarter earnings.
