The co-founders of a Wallingford-based music instruction school want to open a new location in Rocky Hill.
John and Cathy McCarthy, owners of the Rock House School of Music, have submitted a project proposal to open a new learning center in a Rocky Hill commercial building at 1834 Silas Deane Highway.
According to a description of the proposal, the music school would use 80% of the building, or 4,509 square feet.
“The music school will be in a perfect location for residents of Rocky Hill to access it easily,” the project application said. “The size will allow us to have multiple teaching studios and performance spaces.”
According to its website, Rock House School of Music offers in-person learning with online support tutorials. Since its founding in 1986, the school said it has served over 2.3 million students, according to its website.
Its main Wallingford location is at 393 Center St.
It also offers franchise opportunities and features a proprietary curriculum created by John McCarthy and his team of instructors.
The school offers private guitar, piano, drums, bass, vocals, ukulele and band instruments lessons; summer camps; and a nonprofit that provides instruments and instruction to children in need, according to its website.
