Owner of West Hartford’s Sparrow Pizza Bar to open new concept in Fairfield County

A two-story taco restaurant is slated to open next month in a 200-year-old barn in Newtown.

Restaurateur David Boyajian, who has owned West Hartford’s Sparrow Pizza Bar since 2022, plans to launch tacobarn at 6 Glen Road, in the Sandy Hook section of Newtown. The exact opening date has yet to be determined.

The 4,165-square-foot restaurant will have a main dining area and bar serving lunch and dinner on the first floor, a second-floor loft for private dining events and an outdoor patio with seating and a fire pit. It will have 80 seats inside the restaurant and about 35 seats on the patio.

It will employ about 35 workers.

The menu will be created by Adam Greenberg, a chef who has appeared on Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, Guys’ Grocery Games, and Alex vs. America.

Beyond tacos, the menus will include small bites, entrées and cocktails

“Tacobarn embraces simplicity and offers people a chance to step away from life’s complexities,” Boyajian said. “We’re excited to open our doors and allow the community to experience this unique space alongside our flavorful, carefully crafted menu.”

Boyajian, whose restaurant experience includes expanding Barteca Restaurant Group’s bartaco chain, has signed a 10-year lease with two five-year options for the space from Monroe-based Flint Ridge Development.
