Otis taps France metro project

Otis France, a division of Farmington’s Otis Elevators, will supply 171 escalators and moving walkways over 15 years at sites in the Paris region.

Otis, a unit of Farmington’s United Technologies Corp., announced it has been awarded a “historic contract” to provide 75 escalators at two railway stations in Paris, Porte Maillot and Nanterre La Folie, and a shopping center, CNIT-La Défense, just outside the city.

Officials said the contract also calls for the installation of 94 escalators and two moving walkways at Haussmann Saint-Lazare, another railway station in Paris.

Haussmann Saint-Lazare station will receive the first shipment of machines in September as Otis plans to operate 120 machines by 2020.
