Farmington-based elevator manufacturing and maintenance company Otis Worldwide Corp. has committed to increase women in its C-suite so that they represent half of Otis’ executives by 2030.
Otis made the pledge for equal gender representation among the company’s executives as part of joining the Paradigm for Parity campaign, a coalition of business leaders dedicated to addressing the corporate leadership gender gap.
“This commitment is welcome progress for all 69,000 Otis colleagues and a major milestone for our industry,” Otis CEO Judy Marks said. “Now more than ever, we embrace a diverse and inclusive culture that includes many voices and inspires great ideas to flourish.”
Otis, an independent company that was a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., committed to enact changes prescribed by Paradigm for Parity meant to increase the number of women in leadership positions, the company said.
As part of the 50% female executive representation goal, Otis has committed to:
- Eliminating, or minimizing, unconscious bias in the workplace
- Significantly increasing the number of women in senior operating roles
- Measuring targets and maintaining accountability through regular progress reports
- Basing career progress on business results and performance, rather than physical presence in the office
- Providing sponsors, not just mentors, to women well-positioned for long-term success.
