A West Hartford roofing contractor faces $113,200 in federal fines after an employee was seriously injured in a rooftop fall last November.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration alleges J.P. Carroll Construction Co. failed to properly protect workers from falls and that an aluminum ladder workers used did not extend three feet above the roof’s edge for stability. The ladder also posed an electrocution hazard, OSHA said.
The agency said the injured worker fell 24 feet from a roof on Nov. 17 while working at a residential construction project at 133 South Highland St. in West Hartford.
J.P. Carroll has 15 days to respond to the proposed fine.
