Orix’s CT head to oversee N.Y. stake

A Dallas venture investor with Hartford operations has invested in a Long Island telecom software maker and named its top Connecticut officer to oversee its stake, authorities say.

Orix Venture Finance, along with New Jersey’s Edison Ventures and Britain’s Kennet Partners, said Thursday it pumped an unspecified amount of equity into Kemp Technologies, of Yaphank, N.Y.

According to published reports, Kemp recently received $16 million from venture investors.

Orix’s co-head William Bishop, who is based in Hartford, is joining Kemp’s board. Orix’s specialty is investing in mid- to late-stage startups.
