East Granby’s Opus Inspection, which inspects vehicle fleets for government agencies and others, said it has completed its $90 million purchase of Windsor emissions testing provider Envirotest Corp.
The deal gives Opus Envirotest’s proprietary vehicle inspection database systems and 1,060 employees.
Opus — which offers inspections, remote onboard diagnostics monitoring and other services in 17 states — also picks up 60 properties and 28 leases in the deal. Opus built and maintains Connecticut’s emissions database and inspection equipment.
Envirotest has long-term inspection contracts in Colorado, Maryland, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and British Columbia.
The companies first announced the deal in November with an $86 million price tag. They didn’t disclose why the price increased by $4 million since then.
