Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates Inc. (SCA), which operates outpatient surgery facilities across the country and is part of health technology company Optum, has made an equity investment in Western Connecticut Orthopedic Surgery Center in Danbury.
SCA now has a network of seven surgery centers operating and under development in the state. The announcement follows SCA deals in Bridgeport and Norwich in December and SCA’s purchase by UnitedHealth Group’s health services company Optum.
The Western Connecticut Orthopedic Surgery Center, a multispecialty facility, has 14 physician partners specializing in orthopedic and spine procedures and is now jointly owned by SCA and the physician partners.
