Onyx to debut third whiskey

East Hartford distiller Onyx Spirits Co. said it is expanding its whiskey making operation, and will soon release its biggest batch yet.

Onyx is expanding its barrel-aging operation to approximately 400 barrels. Its newest whiskey, Secret Stash Reserve, will be sold for about $35 each — a lower price than two previous smaller batches, which were bottled separately, company spokeswoman Rachael Forker said Wednesday.

The company released its first whiskey, Secret Stash — made by barrel aging its moonshine — a year ago in a limited batch of 33 barrels. Each contained 33, 750-milliliter bottles, priced at around $60 each.

The new whiskey will be available in stores and establishments starting this month.
