Connecticut could increase its lottery sales by $98 million by making tickets available online, according to research from eLottery Inc., a Web-based retailer of government lottery tickets.
Online lottery tickets could attract up to 80 percent of 18 to 34 year olds, the company said, which is a group not currently purchasing tickets through traditional channels. And the extra cash could boost the state’s budget for things like education and public safety.
The research also indicates that these traditional outlets would lose little if any business, as most of the new sales would come from an audience that wasn’t in the market before.
