OneDigital continues acquisition spree with CT deal

An Atlanta-based provider of human resources, employee benefits advisory and other services is expanding its Connecticut presence.

OneDigital Health and Benefits, which employs a team of 45 in its Batterson Park Road office in Farmington, said it has acquired Branford-based BK Group Benefits, which has eight employees.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

OneDigital said BK Benefits customers will have access to a deeper bench of expertise and services.

The Branford office is led by Jeffrey R. Knapp and offers benefits, compliance, wellness and other services.

“With OneDigital’s ability to stay ahead of market trends and the ever-changing healthcare regulations, we knew this partnership was the best decision on behalf of our customers and future customers,” Knapp said in a statement.

OneDigital’s Connecticut buy is the latest in a long string of deals over the past two years.

OneDigital has announced approximately a dozen acquisitions around the country so far this year, including its largest ever in April, Northwestern Benefit, an approximately 100-employee, 10-office Atlanta competitor

OneDigital now has approximately 1,700 employees in 90 offices around the country, and reports more than $400 million in annual revenue. The company says it manages more than $5.8 billion in insurance premiums for nearly 50,000 employer clients.

The flurry of 2019 activity follows similar growth last year. OneDigital said it acquired 28 companies, growing its annual revenue by $100 million.

Formerly known as Digital Benefit Advisors, the company adopted its current name in 2016, a move that also included the rebranding of its Farmington unit, which had kept its former name, Ovation, for several years after being acquired by Digital back in 2013.
