• The Connecticut Small Business Innovation Research Office awarded $65,000 in support of advancing fuel cell technology and nanotechnology to these companies: Mott Corp., Farmington; Mystic MD, New London; and GenCell Corp., Southbury. The grants are funded by the Connecticut Development Authority and the Governor’s Office for Workforce Competitiveness.
• Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center donated six computers to the Urban League of Hartford’s after school program at Weaver High School.
• The United Way recognized Earl J. Schofield, a senior union employee assistance program coordinator, with the 2006 Community Service Award. Schofield provides counseling services for Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Sundstrand and UT Fuel Cells.
