• Prudential Connecticut Realty named Beth DiLoreto office leader of the year. The Wethersfield office, where DiLoreto is director of sales, was declared office of the year for its customer service and dedication to community growth.
• Patrece S. Richards, a junior at Weaver High School in Hartford, was one of six students in Connecticut to be named a winner in State Comptroller Nancy Wyman’s seventh annual Black History essay contest. Richards’ essay highlighted Dr. Percy Lavon Julian, the first African American chemist elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
• The East Windsor Chamber of Commerce recognized Jim Thurz of Advanced Electrical Systems as the East Windsor Business Person of the Year 2007.
