Carrier Corp. in Farmington completed its 10th fully-sponsored Habitat for Humanity home in the Greater Hartford area. The home is the second “green” home using recycled materials, renewable resources and energy efficiency. Carrier donated a hot water boiler for the home and nine other Habitat homes in the region.

 

• The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism and the Department of Agriculture visited New York City to promote visiting the state. Ambassadors from Connecticut handed out freshly picked apples and pumpkins on the city streets.

• The Farmington Chamber of Commerce donated $20,000 worth of “Welcome to Farmington” signs to the town. Nine new signs were posted throughout Farmington.

 

The Hartford in Hartford “deputized” 125 first graders from West Middle Elementary School as part of the Junior Fire Marshal program. Students saw how fire sprinkler systems work in The Hartford’s Loss Control Fire Sprinkler Lab.
